Reader’s Question:

I have a suspended license in Utah, can I still apply for a Nevada drivers license?

Emily

Thank you for asking Emily.

The answer is no. It is not possible to get a driver’s license in Nevada if you have a suspended license in Utah.

According to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles no state may issue a license to any individuals if there is an active suspension or revocation in any other state. License suspension and revocation information is reported with all 50 states. If your suspension or revocation originated in another state, you must abide that state’s reinstatement procedures before you can get your license active.

A suspension or revocation must be cleared first by the state which originated it. You need to take care of the suspended license first before you can apply one in another state. Also according to the DMV site there is no time limit or statute of limitations on how long an active suspension or revocation remains listed and in effect.

When you have cleared up your suspension in Utah and have had that driver’s license reinstated you may be able to apply now for Nevada drivers license.

Goodluck!
